The project: Design, support, manufacture and installation of upgraded mechanical process ventilation and room extraction systems for a Waste‑to‑Energy facility

 

Project Overview

Airmatic Ltd partnered with ERG to deliver extraction improvements within a Mechanical Pre‑Treatment (MPT) facility operated by a leading UK waste management company. The project involved the design, supply and installation of 14 bespoke extraction hoods to improve containment of airborne contaminants at key discharge points, alongside wider upgrades to the site’s room extraction and dust extraction systems.

The objective of the project was to improve environmental conditions within the facility, enhance operator safety and optimise overall extraction performance across the processing area. Due to the demanding nature of the operating environment, the system was engineered to maximise containment efficiency while maintaining operational access, incorporating robust materials and practical maintenance considerations throughout.

Airmatic worked closely with both ERG and the end client to provide a responsive and efficient solution from initial design through to installation and commissioning.

Scope of Work

The project included the design, manufacture, supply and installation of a complete extraction improvement package tailored to the operational requirements of the facility.

Technical Features of the System

  • PVC strip curtain enclosures to contain airborne contaminants while allowing operational access
  • Hinged access panels for improved maintenance accessibility
  • Volume control dampers to assist with airflow balancing and performance optimisation
  • Swivel bends and transition sections to improve airflow efficiency
  • Bespoke fabricated ductwork designed specifically for the site layout and process requirements

Each element of the system was manufactured to support durability, ease of maintenance and efficient extraction performance within a high‑usage operational environment.

Installation & Delivery

Airmatic delivered the project using a coordinated installation approach designed to maintain efficiency while working within the operational constraints of the facility.
